CAPTURE-AD 2

Written by Butler Hospital | March 10, 2025
What is the CAPTURE-AD 2 Study?
Participants will be asked to attend a visit at Butler Hospital Memory and Aging Program that includes memory testing and surveys. The study team will also assist in setting up the study provided smartwatch (FitBit) and/or help sync a personal smartwatch with a personal smartphone and the phone app. The visit will take approximately two hours. Certain aspects of behavior (e.g., number of steps per day, hours spent asleep) are monitored for 6 weeks through a smartphone and a smartwatch, completing brief online surveys, and a brief online exit questionnaire to provide feedback. If participants are interested, they may return to meet with study staff and get feedback about in-clinic memory testing and physical activity during the monitoring period.
What is the purpose of the CAPTURE-AD 2 Study?
The purpose is to evaluate if using new technology called passive remote monitoring (via devices such as smart phones and smartwatches) would be successful in detecting changes in participants’ memory and thinking associated with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.
Eligibility
Individuals who are between the ages of 50-80 who can speak and understand English who are cognitively normal or diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and own a smartphone (e.g., Android, iPhone).

Interested participants can contact the Memory and Aging Program Outreach Team at 401-455-6402 or by sending an email to memory@butler.org to discuss additional eligibility criteria.
