Project STIM for the Healthy Brain

Study Information

Project STIM is seeking healthy individuals (without any medical or psychiatric disorders) to participate as “healthy comparisons” in our Project STIM study group.

Why should I join the study?

As one of 30 selected participants for the healthy comparison group, you will help researchers investigate and understand how the brains of patients with OCD are different than brains of healthy people. Understanding these differences is necessary for developing new treatments for people with OCD.

What will happen if I join the study?

Initially, a phone screen will be conducted to determine potential eligibility. We will determine whether you are a candidate for a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan. After completing the phone screen, potentially eligible participants will complete a series of questionnaires and assessments administered during a two to three hour clinical interview. Those eligible for the study will have one MRI scan on the Brown University campus in Providence, R.I. The interview and scan are scheduled as two separate visits over the course of a one to two week period.

Eligibility Criteria

The study is open to healthy adults, ages 18 to 70. You must not be pregnant or claustrophobic, and your body must be free of non-removable metal objects or metallic implants, such as pacemakers, aneurysm clips, etc.

Compensation/Reimbursement

Compensation for each completed visit: $25 for the interview and $50 for the MRI scan.
