Cognitive Behavior Therapy

This program is now offering virtual programming through telehealth, in addition to safe, on-site treatment.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Program

The Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Program helps men and women develop the skills to effectively manage depression, anxiety, substance abuse and many other psychiatric disorders. The program runs Monday through Friday starting at 9 a.m. and ending at at 3:30 p.m. At the end of the day, you return home to practice the interpersonal and coping skills learned in the program.

Patients arrive at the hospital each morning and stay for six hours a day. At the end of the day, they return home to practice the interpersonal and coping skills learned in the program. These programs have proven to be effective treatment options for patients whose symptoms or level of functioning require more intensive treatment than outpatient care can provide but do not need inpatient hospitalization.

About CBT

CBT is a form of talk therapy that focuses on thoughts, feelings and behaviors; the way you think affects the way that you feel which also affects the way you act. CBT offers a problem-solving approach to living. While you cannot control other people or situations, you can control the way you perceive and react to a particular situation. CBT teaches you the skills to change your thinking and manage your reactions to stressful people and situations. Treatment consists of individual and group therapy, medication management, and aftercare planning.

On a typical day, you will participate in two or three groups each morning and two groups in the afternoon, with a 10–15 minute break between each group. There is a one hour break for lunch at noon.
