Butler Hospital, a member of the Care New England Health System (CNE), has announced a new contract agreement with Neighborhood Health Plan of Rhode Island for the hospital’s inpatient alcohol and drug treatment service and the new ambulatory outpatient detoxification program. The agreement, which is effective on March 1, 2016, strengthens the long-standing relationship between Butler Hospital and Neighborhood, and will provide greater access to treatment for substance abuse disorders for Neighborhood clients.
"At a time when our state is facing a public health crisis, access to safe and effective alcohol and drug treatment services is essential,” said Lawrence Price, MD, president and chief operating officer of Butler Hospital, leader of CNE’s Brain and Behavioral Health Council, and professor of psychiatry and human behavior at The Warren Alpert Medical School at Brown University. “This agreement and the recent creation of our outpatient detoxification program are two meaningful ways we’re facing this crisis head on.”
Dr. Francisco "Paco" Trilla, Neighborhood's chief medical officer said, "Neighborhood looks forward to partnering with Butler Hospital in order to help meet the critical needs of some of our most vulnerable members."
In addition to the new agreement with Neighborhood, Butler has agreements for both inpatient and outpatient addiction treatment already in place with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Rhode Island as well as United HealthCare of Rhode Island.
